The Tay River is named after Perth-upon-Tay in Scotland. It was settled in the early 1800’s, when several hundred Scottish, and later Irish, soldiers and settlers established the 'Scotch Line'. Their descendants stayed to build prosperous farms, beautiful Georgian stone homes, and an industrious and competent work force. Their stories are inspiring, romantic and often extraordinary!
The Tay River is accessible via the Rideau Canal allowing boaters to dock just outside of Perth.
