The Showy Lady's Slipper Orchids at Purdon Conservation Area (Lanark Highlands) are the greatest abundance found anywhere in Canada, some 10,000 plants. The site, owned by Mississippi Valley Conservation, features boardwalks, viewing areas and educational signage that make this an accessible destination - particularly during blooming season.

From Blueberry Mountain to Purdon’s Conservation Area (Showy Lady’s Slipper Orchids) 

Start at:  Blueberry Mountain Hills of Peace Rd Lanark Highlands, ON K0G 1K0

  • Head back southwest on Hills of Peace Rd 1.4 km to Flower Station Rd
  • Turn left at Flower Station Rd for 6.2 km
  • Turn right at Black Creek Rd for 11.2 km
  • Turn left at S Lavant Rd (County Road 16) for 2.1 km
  • Turn right at Umphersons Mill Rd for 4.6 km
  • Turn left at Concession Road 8 (Umphersons Mill Rd S) for 5.4 km
  • Purdon Conservation Area is on the right - 5.4 km

Blooming season occurs on an annual basis between mid-June and early July.

Fully accessible boardwalk, washroom, parking, and picnic area.
Stroll along the 400 metre boardwalk (wheelchair accessible) for a close-up view of the orchids and many other plant and wildlife species special to the area.
